Eligibility
1. We will only consider applications from South African citizens.
2. You must have a proven financial need, as determined by household income.
3. You must have obtained the following minimum academic results:
- An average of 65% in the year that you are applying for the bursary, ie in grade 12 or at the university level.
- An average of 65% for the required subjects aligned to the degree you plan to study at university.
4. We will not consider applicants who completed their grade 12 or senior certificate with Mathematics Literacy.
5. You must have obtained admission to a South African public university or university of technology for the Undergraduate or Honours qualification you plan to study.
How to Apply For The Nedbank Bursary
To apply for the Nedbank Bursary, students should follow these steps:
1. Visit the Nedbank Bursary Application page.
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you’ll find the option “Click here to apply for a bursary.”
4. If you meet the criteria, you will be automatically directed to the application page.
1. A certified copy of your South African identity card/document.
2. Your most recent academic transcript, ie:
- Grade 11 final results, as well as your mid-year results if you are currently in grade 12.
- Grade 12 final results as well as your mid-year results if you are currently in your first year at university.
- Your last academic year results as well as your current mid-year results if you are currently at university.
3. The financial checks affidavit must be signed by:
- your parent(s) or guardian(s);
- you, the bursary applicant.
Applicants will have to download the affidavit here and complete it. Make sure it is signed by all the parties above and add it to your application.
N/B: The submission of these documents is compulsory, and missing items may result in disqualification.
The selection process
1. All applications will pass through screening.
2. Shortlisted candidates will be put through a virtual interview, partake in psychometric testing, and take other assessments.
3. After the screening process, there will be applications and results assessment by the Nedbank Educational Trust.
4. Bursaries awarding process will be at the discretion of the Trust.
5. The outcome of these processes will get to all applicants after the recruitment process is complete.
Shortlisted candidates are to submit these documents:
- A written consent from parents, guardians, and all income-earning members of the applicant’s household, stating that they understand that the agency will need the candidate’s information to be submitted to third parties to assist the Nedbank Educational Trust with verifying income.
- Completed income and expenditure statements from parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household.
- Candidates are to submit these documents within 7 working days of the application: combined into a single document:
- ID documents of parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household (certified copies)
– Proof of income of parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household (most recent payslips or letters of employment - For the employed: proof of income; home loan account statement, and city or town council rates and tax statement
- Informal traders or hawkers: IRP5, IT3, and IT12 forms for the past 2 years
- Commission Earners: only official pension slip or bank statement
- For those receiving income from pension, grant, maintenance, rent, interest from investments:
3 months’ recent bank statements of parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household.
- ID documents of parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household (certified copies)
