Nedbank Bursary Programme – Nedbank is inviting applicants to apply for their External Bursary Programme(Nedbank Bursary 2024 for the 2024 academic year. The  Nedbank Bursary will award bursaries for students pursuing an undergraduate qualification (degree or diploma) in ANY field of study aligning with the Nedbank Educational Trust and green economy skills with the aim of addressing skills shortages in South Africa. The history of Nedbank traces back to 1831- (Cape of Good Hope Bank was established). Nedbank has had several structural adjustments, and rebranding initiatives leading to the formation of the Nedbank Group in 2003.

Nedbank is one of the four largest banks in South Africa and it stands as one of the newest. It operates in six countries within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and owns banks and subsidiaries in Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, Swaziland, Malawi, and Lesotho.

Its commitment to education is second to none, as it seeks to award bursaries to academically deserving students facing financial constraints with the aim of addressing skills shortages in South Africa with a focus on green economy skills.

Eligibility
Applicants must meet these eligibility criteria applyin to apply for the Nedbank Bursary:

  1. You must be a South African citizen.
  2. You must currently be in Matric or have completed Matric.
  3. You must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in your first undergraduate qualification (degree or diploma) for the 2024 academic year.
  4. You must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a full-time student at a recognized and accredited public university or university of technology in South Africa.
  5. You must have a strong academic record.
  6. You must have passed Mathematics in Matric (not Mathematics Literacy).
  7. You must have minimum average of 65% for the 2023 academic year (at Matric or university level).
  8. You must have a minimum average of 65% for all subjects aligned with your university qualification.
  9. You must demonstrate financial need, which is determined by household income.
How to Apply For The Nedbank Bursary
To apply for the Nedbank Bursary, students should follow these steps:

2: Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you’ll find the option “Click here to apply for a bursary.” Step 3: Complete the screening questionnaire.
4: If you meet the criteria, you will be automatically directed to the application page.

 

Applicants are expected to submit clear copies of these documents below to support their documentation

1. ID document or card (certified copy)
2. Grade 11 final results AND Matric latest results, if currently in Matric (certified copy)
3. Matric certificate AND latest tertiary results, if currently in 1st year at university (certified copy)
4. Latest tertiary results AND mid-year results, if currently in the 2nd or 3rd year at the university (certified copy)
5. A completed Nedbank Financial Checks Affidavit (PDF) signed by the applicant and parent or guardian

N/B:The submission of these documents is compulsory, and missing items may result in disqualification.

The selection process

1. All applications will pass through screening.
2. Shortlisted candidates will put throigh a virtual interview, partake in psychometric testing, and take other assessments.
3. After the screening process, there will be applications and results assesment by the Nedbank Educational Trust.
4. Bursaries awarding process will be at the discretion of the Trust.
5. The outcome of these processes will get to all applicants after the recruitment process is complete.

Shortlisted candidates are to submit these documents:

1. Written consent from parents, guardians, and all income-earning members of the applicant’s household, stating that they understand that the agency willl need the candidate’s information to be submitted to third parties to assist the Nedbank Educational Trust with verifying income.
2. Completed income and expenditure statements from parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household.
3. Candiates are to submit these document within 7 working days of the application: combined into a single document:

  • ID documents of parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household (certified copies)
    – Proof of income of parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household (most recent payslips or letters of employmen
  • For the employed: proof of income; home loan account statement, and city or town council rates and taxes statemen
  • Informal traders or hawkers: IRP5, IT3, and IT12 forms for the past 2 years
  • Commission Earners: only  official pension slip or bank statement
  • For those receiving income from pension, grant, maintenance, rent, interest from investments:
    3 months’ recent bank statements of parents, guardians, and other income earners in the household.
