Eligibility – BASF Bursary 2025 Requirements
BASF has set requirements that interested applicants must fulfill. These requirements aim to select the applicants most deserving of the bursary. The requirements are as follows:
- Applicants must be citizens of South Africa.
- Applicants must be women and of black ethnicity, according to the BBBEE codes.
- Applicants must currently be pursuing a degree in one of the aforementioned disciplines of study.
- Applicants must currently be enrolled in a university or tertiary institution that is both recognized and accredited.
- Applicants must have finished the first year of study in 2021 to enroll in the second year of study in 2023.
- Applicants must show that they have a financial need and meet the conditions for funding established by NFSAS.
- Applicants must be able to provide evidence of a strong academic track record
- Applicants must have a spotless criminal history.
- Applicants must not be receiving financial assistance from any other scholarship or bursary program.
Failure to satisfy the listed requirements can lead to your application being rejected. BASF will give more consideration to female students from disadvantaged groups than other students. The list of bursary recipients that BASF publishes will be the final list.

How To Apply
For the BASF bursary, there is no application form for applicants to fill out. Instead, eligible applicants must submit documents for verification purposes. These verification documents will support your application. The required documents are as follows:
- Identification documents
- Certificate and results for matric
- Complete academic results, including the recent results
- Submit evidence of your parents’ or guardians’ income, including the most recent pay slips if employed, financial statements if self-employed, affidavits if unemployed, and proof of any eligible grants.
- Updated CV (with a maximum of 3 pages)
Note: Documents to be submitted must be certified copies.
Applicants will have to write on the following essay topics:
- “The current state of my field of study and how it could evolve soon”. You’d have to explain how you can contribute to the positive changes.
- “Why you’re the best candidate for the bursary?” Explain how the bursary will benefit you and why you deserve to be awarded
The essay has to be 2-pages in Microsoft Word or PDF format. The font should be 12pt with a line spacing of 1.5. The documents should be mailed to the official bursary mail: basf_za_trust@basf.com

Closing Date
