About the Bell Equipment Bursary 

Bursaries are available from Bell Equipment for the 2024–2025 school year to help students in South Africa further their education and increase the country’s talent pool. The following fields of study are eligible for the bursaries:

  • Computer Science (BSc)
  • Electrical Engineering (BEng / BSc)
  • Electronics Engineering (BEng / BSc)
  • Information Technology (BSc / BComm)

The Bell Equipment Bursary covers admission costs, tuition fees, recommended texts, and study support as needed. Funding is subject to annual reapplication, and recipients must work at least eight weeks of paid vacation annually. Bell Equipment may request that students work for the company for a set amount after graduation, at least equal to the bursary they earned.

Bell Equipment Bursary 2024 Eligibility

Application consideration is contingent upon your meeting the following minimal admission requirements; hence, your application will not be considered if you do not:

  1. Only citizens of South Africa are eligible.
  2. You must be enrolled in a full-time programme leading to one of the aforementioned qualifications; funding will not be provided for part-time or correspondence studies.
  3. You must be starting your second year of studies in 2024.
  4. To qualify, you must be a student at one of South Africa’s prestigious universities, tech schools, or FET colleges.
  5. A cumulative grade point average of 65% or above is required for this school year.
  6. You cannot receive any other bursary money (save for academic performance grants provided by your institution).
  7. Your enthusiasm for new ideas and design must be contagious.
  8. You should be enthusiastic and extremely motivated.
  9. The scholarship rules are on pages 8 and 9 of the entry form, and you agree to follow them.

Bell Equipment Bursary Tips for Success

  • Bursaries awarded must be taken up in the relevant university calendar year, or they are forfeited.
  • A Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust bursary holder may NOT possess other bursary funding for the same purpose for which the bursary has been awarded. Academic performance grants awarded by the student’s institution will be considered an exception.
  • A Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust Bursary holder must submit proof of registration at the university for that year and their student number on the prescribed form before the end of March.
  • The bursary holder is responsible for obtaining progress reports and examination results for submission to Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust. Failure to follow this procedure will jeopardise the renewal of the bursary.
  • Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust must be notified immediately of any change of address.
  • The bursary holder may not change the course for which the bursary was awarded unless Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust agrees to this in writing in advance.
  • The bursar must undertake to work, if required by Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust, for at least 8 weeks of their annual vacation at Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust, unless their direction of study requires alternative arrangements, in which case the bursar may be placed at an alternate workplace. The bursar will be reimbursed during employment with Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust.
  • If required by Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust, accept employment for a period at least equivalent to the duration of the bursary or for such period as mutually agreed by Bell Equipment Company / Bell Equipment Foundation Trust.
