Eligibility – Motsepe Foundation Bursary Requirements

Applicants will have to satisfy the following criteria before applying for the bursary. Failure to meet these requirements can lead to disqualification of your applications. To qualify, you must:

  • be a South African citizen,
  • have excellent academic results,
  • have acquired a minimum average marks of 70% in Matric,
  • intend to study within any of the disciplines mentioned above,
  • intend to study at a recognized tertiary institute in South Africa,
  • be from a low-income family background and need to prove financial need or requirements,
  • be willing to participate in community service activities as the Motsepe Foundation requires.

How To Apply

Interested applicants for this foundation bursary for the 2025 academic year can either apply online on the official website or by downloading the application form. After completing the forms, applicants will have to submit it with the following supporting documents:

  • The ID of the applicant
  • The ID of each household member including parents or legal guardian
  • Recent academic or exam results
  • Acceptance letter from the university
  • Recent payslip and employment certification, not older than 3 months for each parent or Legal
    Guardian.
  • SASSA letter if any of your family members are receiving a social grant
  • For parents or legal guardians working as an informal trader, present a signed affidavit to confirm this employment. This is subject to verification by the Foundation.
  • For deceased parent/s, provide a certified copy of the death certificate
  • For divorced parents, provide a certified copy of the divorce decree
  • For parents not living at home, provide an affidavit indicating the reasons
  • For applicants supported by someone, not your parent or legal guardian, provide an affidavit stating the reasons

Applicants who have completed the process can send their completed application forms and supporting documents through email at bursaries@motsepefoundation.org.
