The program supports aspiring leaders and helps them make a positive impact on their developing countries. Students are awarded the bursary to study at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, at ITESM Monterrey Campus in Mexico, and at Bogazici University in Turkey.
Gallagher Foundation Bursary Program
Talented students in South Africa, Mexico, or Turkey seeking financial support for their education are open to applying for the Gallagher Foundation Bursary 2025. The program provides funding for students pursuing degrees in the following fields:
- Architecture
- Business
- Education
- Engineering
- History
- Law
- Language
- Mathematics
- Medicine
- Philosophy
- Political Science
- Psychology

- Technology
The program provides a full bursary that covers students’ tuition fees, books, study supplies, accommodation, meals, transport, and living allowance. Generally, the bursary is awarded to 5 students yearly for each partner country.
Eligibility – Gallagher Foundation Bursary Requirement
For applications to be considered, applicants must meet the minimum entry criteria before applying. To qualify for the bursary, you must:
- Be a South African citizen.
- Have an excellent academic record.
- Be accepted into a qualifying field of study at the University of Cape Town (UCT) for 2024.
- Be entering your first year of study.
- Achieve high scores on the National Benchmark Test (NBT).
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Possess strong ethical values aligned with the Gallagher Foundation’s principles of leadership.
- Show leadership potential through extracurricular activities, awards, or special projects.
- Have applied for NSFAS funding.
- Not be receiving any other scholarships (except merit-based awards).
Remember, meeting these requirements doesn’t guarantee a bursary, but it significantly increases your chances of being selected.
How To Apply
To apply for the Gallagher Foundation Bursary, applicants will have to visit the official Gallagher Foundation Bursary website to download the application form. Submit your completed application along with clear copies of the following required documents:
- Recent photograph
- High School results
- Final Acceptance to study at UCT
- National Benchmark test scores
- Recommendation letter (from an individual who can provide information about your character, academic accomplishments, community service involvement, and extracurricular activities – eg: a teacher, mentor, guidance counselor, athletic coach, or employer – NOT from a family member)
- Parents or guardians’ proof of income (latest payslips/ letter from employer/ affidavit if unemployed/ pension documents)
