The value and coverage of the EEDF Bursary depend on your household income:
- Missing Middle (R350,000 – R600,000): Receive full coverage for registration fees, tuition, accommodation, study materials, and a laptop allowance (for first-year students). Also enjoy tutoring, mentorship, meal assistance, and mental health support.
- NSFAS-Eligible (below R350,000): Receive full coverage for registration fees and comprehensive non-financial support, including mentorship, mental health support, and academic guidance.

Eligibility – EEDF Bursary Requirements
Before you apply for the bursary, you must make sure you satisfy the following criteria:
- You must be a South African citizen or permanent resident
- You must be between the ages of 18 and 25 years old
- You must be entering your first year or final year of studies in 2024
- You must have a combined household income of less than R600 000 per annum
- You must be accepted, enrolled, or provisionally accepted at one of the following tertiary institutions: North West University / University of Johannesburg / University of Pretoria / University of the Witwatersrand
- You must be willing to contribute to the community by providing mentorship services after completion of studies.
Failure to meet these requirements will disqualify your application. Please ensure you meet all eligibility criteria before submitting.

The EEDF Bursary application is done online. Applicants will have to complete the EEDF Bursary Application 2025 online and submit it. Applicants must include copies of the following supporting documents with your completed application.
Required Documents include:
- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified copy of Matric certificate
- Full academic record (if currently studying)
- Proof of registration or acceptance into the aforementioned tertiary institutions
- Household income proof (recent payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed, or proof of pension or SASSA grant if applicable)
- Proof of disability (if applicable)
- Residential proof (rental agreement or utility bill)
- Motivational letter explaining why you are eligible for this award and why should you receive this.
- Recommendation letters from mentors, teachers, or individuals who can vouch for your academic achievements, character, and potential (preferred)
